Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, lying with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was lucky to get away with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the very end of the session, turning around through the high-speed corner leading to the last turn on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, 0.619 seconds off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
